About the Curriculum- Areas of Learning

Creative development is a major part of our daily routine. Children get plenty of opportunity to express themselves with paint, water, playdough and an ‘imaginative play area’ gives the children space to develop their social and emotional behaviour. Our weekly timetable incorporates lots of mathematical activities. Plenty of use of magnets, number blocks and scales offer the children a broad understanding of Maths. The topics on which we concentrate vary from ‘Our Favourite Places’ to ‘Chinese New Year’ giving children a wealth of Knowledge and Understanding of the World. Information Technology is introduced into our curriculum at every level, helping children to understand simple technology and computer skills. The small size of the nursery gives the children lots of opportunity to develop their language, literacy and communication and every morning a chat about the weather, past weekend and our family encourage the children’s conversation. Lots of work on letter recognition and formation is introduced into our weekly activities. All of our planning supports work towards the ‘Stepping Stones’ and ‘Early Learning Goals.’

Our adventurous outside area offers the children a safe environment in which to explore, play and exercise all contributing to their physical development.

Our aim is to provide high quality care tailored to the individual needs of the children we care for. We value confidence and good manners and aim to provide the necessary foundations in social, emotional development on which to successfully build. Ratios are low. Staff are young, vibrant and qualified with relevant first aid certificates. Teaching standards are high and this is reflected in excellent OFSTED reports.
